Brian, nice photo of Joe and Joy Fair and the old Ford Maverick. That was a bad Ford!Pete

In the pits at Delaware Speedway in 1975 just prior to winning the NASCAR Canada Carling Series 100.

The Car & Driver Magazine Chrysler Kit Car

Joe is going to be racing this Saturday night at Flat Rock in Stan Yee Jr.’s car. Over 35 cars entered already for a 24 car field for 150 laps. I can’t wait!

My introduction to Joe Ruttman and Stan Yee was as the 1972 World Series Champion on this cover. Dad went to the races and brought the program back for me. I’m assuming this and the Chevelle below were yellow?Would be great to see Joe run at Flat Rock. Hope he does well in the car.

The cars Joe drove for Stan were white with orange trim.

Joe made the 150 at Flat Rock. Stan Jr. didn’t unfortunately.

In the color pic of the white and orange car, in the pits at Mt.Clemens, in the backround you can see Erv Baumgarten (108), Ray Nece (3), The yellow ’65 Fairlane is Ernie Ward (57). I believe the orange ’66 Fairlane was Larry Lemay’s (Ray’s old car). The orange, black and white, early 70’s Monte Carlo is Artie Sommers (06).

What was the secret to the golden 70 AVC Camaro’s success? Somewhere in here perhaps?

State of the art in 1975 for a 5hr tow from Michigan to Toronto.

I remember reading in SCR about some problems with that Mustang at the Snowball Derby in the article that accompanied this pic.

Was this car yellow? It looks a little like Joy Fair’s Mustang from the same era but the front fender flares are unique as is the fuel filler at the back.

Nah. Can’t be a Fair car . . . you knew it was a Mustang.

Right at about a year ago, I blogged about Joe’s 1989 Daytona 500 entry sponsored by Schaefer beer. I’m pretty sure I never posted the link to it here. I was able to scale the photo of the side-view of the car to 8×10, and Joe autographed it for me. The blog has even more of a back-in-the-day vibe to it as I was just a teen when I first met him at Nashville Speedway.
