Your comment has been printed to show that we are not biased. You are entitled to your opinion, as are all the rest of us. But please, the next time you visit, try to dream up a more convincing pseudonym. That one's been used.

I also shed tears that day - he was 13 years junior to me but still a hero.

He represented Blue Collar America that makes America what it is; Christianity, Patriotism, and Family Values.

He was and still is a true representative of what this country is all about...

I still have a few " Winners # episodes along with a Neil Bonnett Winners hat. When Neil died we sent a small donation to the National Head Injury Foundation and his wife Susan sent us a very nice handwritten thank you note.

I have the #51 Country Time Chevy purchased at Daytona in 1994. I don`t think too many of them were produced. RIP Neil.

"Neil found a sponsor in Country Time Lemonade for a limited run in 1994, and prepared to go racing in his own #51."

James Finch owned the #51 Country Time Chevy, not Neil. Rick Wilson went on to drive the car for those few races in 1994. Neil is still missed very much.

Thank you PattyKay. Your article is a great tribute to Neil. To me, he really came into his own with the fans when he hosted his Winners show. He was a natural. He related so well with the fans who, although they had never met him, felt as if he was a favorite friend. I was in Daytona that fateful day and heard the shocking news on the radio while driving past DIS enroute from the Daytona Flea Market. The news certainly cast a shadow on the rest of Speedweeks. We will never forger Neil Bonnett.

I have a friend who was on the pit crew for the wood bros for a couple yrs., and he said that after each race, no matter the outcome, Neil would seek out every crewman and thank them for their effort that day.
Not only that, he actually was able to made buddy baker a quality sportscaster.

Really nice article, thank you. Like you I loved to watch Neil in whatever role he played in the sport. He was one of the greatest racers, commentator and human being the sport of auto racing will ever know.

Great story! What a great driver he was and Neil had become one of the best announcers TV had. A whole lot better than The Fox crew. That is partly whats wrong with Nascar now, poor TV ratings. Among other things! Neil was a class act for sure! Thanks for the article.
