Morgan had won the 81 Virginia 500, and was leading in a different ride(Levi Garrett #98) when this happened,. NASCAR's official results say he crashed on lap 53, can you tell me what the scoreboard there reads? Official, huh? The lap keeper had actually flipped to lap 64 but crash was on 63rd lap

#01 was Butch Lindley driving the Emanuel Zervakis Buick sponsored by Miller High Life Beer and the Richmond, Virginia wholesaler Loveland Distributing Company. I think Butch actually went on to finish 2nd in the race.

Happy upcoming Holidays to you & yours. actually Butch finished 2nd in that beautiful solid white w/ gold ## 01 Buick the following year in the Virginia(National Bank) 500 . Geoff Bodine drove the #01 in this race& finished 23rd (led 3 laps) 'Terrible' Tommy Ellis drove the #55 chevy to a last place finish(lap 14 crash) the 1981-82 M'ville Cup races were a circus for the LMS guys, Morgan Sheperd won the 81 spring event in the Performance Connection Pontiac #5, Lindley drove his own #26 chevy. The next race saw Morgan (pictured) leading when he crashed the #98 Levi Garrett ride, Bodine in the #01, Milliken in the #5...in 82 butch #01, Bodine #5, Shperd #98....this where the term 'silly season" originated
