If it were not for the fact that Wendell and I share the same birthday I wouldn’t remember Wendell’s anymore than I would George Bush Jr. however, with Michael Jackson, Wendell Scott and me sharing Aug. 29 how can I forget. So here’s to Wendell Oliver Scott (August 29, 1921 December 23, 1990) For he’s a jolly good fellow, long live the #34
One of the worst and best racing memories of my Racing Days, was the night at Henderson, a Redneck Drunk offered me $ 100.00 to take out Wendell (Worst) and I told him what he could do with his $100.00 ( Best).
If you’ve never seen the 4 minute video on Wendell Scott put together by “VisitDanville” and narrated by his son Franklin, it is well worth watching/hearing:
Happy birthday to Wendell. And he was a Schaefer man. Scha-loot! (Thanks to RR’s Brian Hauck for providing me this picture.)
