This week, Jeff Hood shares with us the story of a Georgia driver who was a real racer rather than a trend setter over at Georgia Racing History.com.

Racing out of Dalton, Georgia, Tammy Jo Kirk moved from motorcycle to dirt stock car racing, then on to asphalt at the behest of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Jody Ridley. Kirk would become a long time competitor on the old NASCAR All Pro Series circuit, and scored a huge win when she became the first woman to win in the famed Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola. Kirk tells us about her career, including her stint in the NASCAR truck series this week over at Georgia Racing History.com.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone here at GRH.com are with Susan Milam Morgan and her family, as they morn the loss of Susan's mother, Geneva Milam, on March 19. Geneva was the widow of Georgia Racing Hall of Famer Weyman Milam. Services were held on Tuesday at Jones Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville. You can read more on her life and sign an online guestbook here. Please keep Susan and her entire family in your hearts and prayers over the coming days.

We also received word this week that former stock car racer and all-around racing legend Fred Lorenzen
