The Fairgrounds Speedway was a half mile dirt oval where NASCAR Grand National (Now Sprint Cup) and Grand American races were held from 1955 until 1970. Junior Johnson won the first race there and Richard Petty won the last one. Racing continued at the track after 1970 featuring latemodel hotshoes from several states until the late 1970’s.

The Racing Expo will consist of a short-track racing trade show and a racing auction. Racing Parts manufacturers and distributors will be on hand to showcase the latest in short-track racing parts, chassis, and accessories. The auction will feature over 1000 lots going across the auction block on Friday and Saturday.

Phillip Walker with the Piedmont Racing Expo and Jeff Gilder of RacersReunion will be at the 24th Annual Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show in Orlando, Florida in early December to promote this upcoming event. Their booth space is #2741.

Walker and Gilder are working to get as many former drivers as possible to attend the reunion. A special autograph session is scheduled for the Saturday RacersReunion from 12noon until 2pm.

Any drivers who can attend the event are asked to notify Walker or Gilder in order to arrange credentials for the show. Walker can be reached at 919-215-3351 and Gilder is available at 843-997-6645. Additional information is available from www.piedmontracingexpo.com, or the Stock Car Events Calendar at www.racersreunion.com.
