This past race in California was quite the sight to be seen. I only saw part of it, and honestly, I'm glad I did. What I've gathered from this weekend, is that most people don't know or don't remember who won the race.....even the announcers, but they do know what happened on the last lap. Lagono went high to block Hamlin, the two touched and sent Denny head-on into the inside wall barrier, I believe right before the entrance to pit road. It is my opinion that neither was at fault. Just a young racer doing whatever he could to win the race and trying to hold off what looked like a faster car. What I've found out now is that Denny was diagnosed with a L-1 Compression Fracture...or in other words, a basically broken back. I really hate it for Denny as he has gotten into many accidents in the past that have required him surgery, but to my knowledge, he bounced back and never missed a race. This might be a little different however, Many drivers of the past have driven with injuries, but I'm not sure about a broken back. I'm really surprised that Denny could even get out of the car, sure it took a while, but at least they (crew) didn't have to cut him out of the car.
