Fairground Drivers Expected-Piedmont Racing Expo

 Raleigh:  The RacersReunion held in conjunction with the 27th Annual Piedmont Racing Expo this weekend is expected to draw notable drivers and family members of drivers who raced at the Raleigh Fairgrounds Speedway between 1955 and 1970.    The Reunion will take place on the Saturday, January 19 in the Expo Building on the Fairgrounds, just a few yards from the historic grandstands of the old race track.  Some of the front straight is still present Read On!

Raleigh:  The 27th Piedmont Racing Expo comes to the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, Friday and Saturday, January 18-19.  Event promoter Phillip Walker indicates that this may be the best Expo in the 27 year history of the event. “We have the best lineup of racing vendors we’ve ever had plus we’ve got all the major short-track speedways and regional racing series in the region represented”, Walker said.  Walker and the Piedmont Racing Expo were honored by the NCMA in 2011 as a Motorsports Industry Award winner. The annual event remembers Rusty Harpe who was a long-time competitor at the .455 mile oval located in Asheboro, NC, Ace Speedway and Bowman Gray Stadium. The 200 lap feature for NASCAR Late Model Stock cars always draws a big field of cars and some of the best late Model division drivers in the Carolinas and Virginia. Caraway Speedway regular, B.J.
