MARTINSVILLE, Va. Jeffrey Earnhardt, the grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt, will drive JR Motorsports No. 5 Chevrolet in the April 26 Nationwide race at Richmond, Va.
JRM is co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR's most popular driver.
Jeffrey Earnhardt is just the second fourth generation driver to compete in NASCARs three national series. The late Adam Petty was the other. Jeffrey is the son of Kerry Earnhardt, Earnhardt Jr.s half brother.
The response has been incredible. I received a lot of text messages and tweets from people in NASCAR, and the fans have been great, Jeffrey said.
Between my grandfather, my dad, and Dale Jr., there is such a huge fan base that is very supportive of my family. I just appreciate the opportunity. I cant wait. I wish the Richmond race weekend was tomorrow.
