On June 14, 1960, entrepreneur and track promoter, Bruton Smith staged one of the first of many stunts to promote the new Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With the inaugural World 600 race scheduled just 5 days away on June 19, 1960, Bruton held a media day and had Curtis Turner try out the new track in a 1960 Ford for the assembled press corps.

From the sports film archives of Roanoke, Virginia television station WSLS as digitized and categorized by the University of Virginia Library, we have access to the 16mm film footage shot that day.
