Usually not much on Tv these days, but not today, as the Speed Channel showed a replay of this year's Rolex Historial Reunion from Monterey California run at the famed Laguna Race Track.
It was great to see the cars of yester year compete like the Ford Cobra, Gt-40's and such, but it was the next to last race of the day that really stole the show! Roll out the Grand National stock cars from the 1959 thru 1976.....Oh my heart! I can't tell you who drove the cars on this day, but it didn't matter the cars are the stars. Ready to race again where the #29 1965 Ford of Dick Hutcherson, which started on the pole, a familar sight in 1965, also a completely original 1972 Torino, the last Holman-Moody car that was driven back in the day by Bobby Unser. Other cars in no real order were the Parnelli Jones 1963 Mercury, Bobby Allison cars from 1972, and 1976 Chevy, a H.B. Bailey Pontiac,and Dan Gurney's 1963 Ford to name a few. The segment was over way to soon, but it was so neat the see the carsand hear those big block roar into action one more time.
Maybe they'll show it again sometime, I hope so, but I did want to share the moment with all of us that love these cars. Til Later all, Bill R.
