The Cincinnati Children's Choir performed a a stirring rendition of our country's National Anthem before the Friday night Nationwide race at Kentucky.

It was one of the best I've heard at a track and much preferable to those "artist" renditions.

Hats off to those youngsters and their instructors.

Hard to beat those Virginia girls. Kate was born in the Augusta County town of Greenville, Virginia.

Just 115 miles from Patsy Cline's birthplace in Gore, Virginia to Kate Smith's birthplace in Greenville, Virginia, both just off I-81. Continue a little farther south on I-81 to Bristol, Virginia area around Mace's Spring and Nickelsville and you'll be in Carter family country. A lot of great singers were born around the I-81 corridor through Virginia.

I had the mis-fortune to hear a lead guitar solo Of the National Anthem a few weeks ago. He had his equipment so saturated and amped up it made Jimi Hendrix sound like Simon and Garfunkel. It was so bad I screamed at the T-V but couldnt bring myself to turn the volume off. I think I wanted to see just how bad it was.
