DO TEST PILOTS COUNT IN NASCAR?

Hot shot pilot David Hyder is going to work as a test pilot -----crew chief for Stewart Haas racing. Now he isnt no dummy behind the wheel because he has over 100 victories in the southeast.And he also crewchiefed for Woods Bros soooooo he can take his rollers off his box and settle in to the business of upping the anti With the new car coming this season, theyd been talking about putting a test team together. Im not sure what all it will entail yet, but Zippy (Stewart-Haas Racing Director of Competition Greg Zipadelli) told me to plan on going to Daytona. Ironic that Danica is stepping up full time there between those two drivers called Stewart and Newman. Their size in relation to hers is quite a showstopper. So the bottom line is Stewart -Haas Racing is developing a new test team. Sounds almost to good to be true, OR IS IT ! !

Johnny, I know you remember what happened at Daytona in the 1985 Firecracker 400.

Bobby Allison was battling for the National Championship at DiGard when DiGard's Gary Nelson entered Greg Sacks in that plain looking, unsponsored, white & red #10 "R&D" car that won the race. Nelson admitted years later that the car got through NASCAR inspection with a "big" Robert Yates engine.

Allison was so ticked off by what happened that he was gone from DiGard two weeks after the race.

Now I know why I remembered the name. THAT David Hyder!
