WHERE HAVE ALL THE PHOTOS GONE

Have we run out of vintage or old photos of racing? Was a time not to long ago when you could set at the computer and log onto here AND enjoy looking at days gone by in photos. They may be Mud buses from the northeast or Skeeters from North Ga. You may see a rooster tail from Tiny Lund or a blue streak from the King. The Alabama gang slinging mud from Hialeah to Nashville. Those cars from yesteryear show forms of lost art in todays tracks. A car zinging around in a dirt field turned track by a farmer to Sumter speedway holding the fine dust cloud over the hot afternoon racetrack.

Have we exhausted those memories? Or has the thrill left the building. I can find thousands of old racing photos on the internet of old time racing in the south but they are not mine to upload, We havent even scratched the surface in Alabama and Florida is loaded also. So where are the photos on Racers Reunion that kept the lost love alive... You tell me please

Didn't we had or having an photo tag problems with members that didn't tag their photos with "Who" tags, "What" tags, "When tags", and "Where" tags on their auto race photos?

"Who" tags: Name of person or persons in race photo?

"What" tags: What is going on or What is the racecar numbers in race photo?

"When" tags: Date of the subject or race photo?

"Where" tags: Name and Location of the race track?

Didn't we had voluteers to helped fixed photo tag problems??

I had furnished photo comments to the corrected photo information to three different members photos and couple days later I noticed my comments information to their photos / photos are gone/disappeared /MIA??

I'm one of a few who add / edit tags and descriptions on photos. With almost 65,000 photos on RR and a bit of spare time, however, it's tough to get around to them all. I've tagged a boocoodle of them in the past year or two but have hardly put a dent in what the site has to offer. That's why we like to stress from time to time for folks to add tags to their own photos.

We've also had a few folks leave the site. Not just leave as in no longer posting - but also delete their accounts. When that happens, all their photos, forum posts, comments, etc. are also deleted by the site's platform because all that stuff is tied to individual users. I'll notice it occasionally when I revisit one of my posts and realize an image I've embedded no longer shows up. More often that not it's because the user from whom I linked the pic is no longer an RR member.

I THINK what Johnny may be referencing is the general slowdown in new photos added to RR. I'm certain there are far more photos out there of good old school racing. Just a matter of landing new members and having them add their pictures - or having existing members add more stuff already in their possession.

I think what you'll find is that this applies to many other sites, as well. There just aren't as many new photos appearing on the web as there were three or four years ago.

Johnny, this is not my photo, but when I was doing the PR for Detroit Gasket in the late 80s, our Busch Series driver, good, ole L.D. Ottinger often talked of getting his start at Atomic Speedway and he returned there even as he made a name for himself in NASCAR LMS and later Busch Series circles.

Jeff Gilder,

We Need An "What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas" Rule.

Some websites has an rule that members can't delected submitted posted information, photos, commits, discussions on it's website after 12 Hrs.

We need an rule that would stopped members, who get mad at others members from delecting and destroying their submitted posted (information, photos, commits, discussions) that (after 12 hrs.) other members added it's post to.

Johnny, That 13 car is run by Charlie Padgett of Palatka,Fla. and use to belong to Richie Gomes from Long Island. The guy working on his midget is Jerry Paquin. The two guys between the cars is Ronnie Rohn from Jacksonville and Richie Iverson. this looks like it was taken at Putnam Co. Speedway. Great memories of running with these guys.

Dennis, the Atomic Speedway dirt track where two-time NASCAR Late Model Sportsman National Champion, L.D. Ottinger cut his teeth was located in East Tennessee, southwest of Knoxville at Lenoir City, TN. The now defunct track (site of a trucking terminal) was also almost due south of Oak Ridge, TN where much of the top-secret work of the Manhattan Project to produce the ingredients needed to detonate the first Atomic bombs over Japan during WWII were produced. Thus, the ATOMIC name.

There seems to be an Atomic track in Ohio and I read that the the Atomic name was also being resurrected for another East Tennessee track.

Location of the now defunct Atomic Speedway in East Tennessee.
