Corrected Today in History

40 Years Ago 1970 : Thenext-to-last NASCAR Grand National Series race on a dirt track was held on this date with a 200-lap race at Columbia (S.C. ) Speedway . The track hosted 43 series races including a couple in 1971 after the track was paved. Bobby Isaac led the final 105 of 200 laps to win the Sandlapper 200 on this date, picking up the $1,500 winners check.His margin of victory was about six seconds over Richard Petty who led the first 95 laps.Bobby Allison was third, a lap behind. The final dirt track race was later in 1970 in Raleigh, N.C.

I think you are correct on this. The "Home State 200" was the final dirt track event for the Grand National division on the NC State Fairgrounds track.
