Ron Johnson's glorious re-creation of Ivo's "Barnstormer" AA/FD has beenselected for display at the Art Center College of Design's 2009 "Car Classic" Sunday, July 19th, in Pasadena, CA. The prestigious event is attended by top car designers and car builders plus "heavy hitters" from throughout the automotive industry and hobbies. Johnsons display will present a nostalgia dragster to people at the top of their field - opinion makers in car design. Rumors have it that TV Tommy Ivo may attend to compliment the exhibit.Johnsons recreation project of Tommy Ivos Barnstormer, which has graced two editions of Rodders Journal and was invited to both display and cackle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, is fully exposed at www.cacklefest.com .Car Classic is staged on the Art Center campus set on a bluff overlooking Pasadena with a golf green expanse of tailored grass swept by gentle breezes. Art Center administrators are quite conscious of offending the neighbors so no engine-starting cackle will occur.Once aware, event organizers at Art Center's Transportation Design Department were quite enthused, one of them commenting he was regular at Lions Drag Strip in "the day". Among various activities "Car Classic" offers attendees a tour of Art Centers design studio to see what next-generation car designers think is cool; very enlightening. It's taken a year of quiet contact to make this happen.Car Classic runs 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM that Sunday and is a fund raiser for the Transportation Design Department. Tickets are pricey at $60.00 each. To learn more and buy tickets, go to: http://www.artcenter.edu/carclassic/ For those who would like to spend a great day in a beautiful place among gorgeous cars, neat car people and see what's next in automotive design - while meeting the people who'll be the "doers" - Car Classic represents a good value. Props to Ron Johnson and "Barnstormer" for earning feature status at this event.
