Hey wow we could kinda comb our hair back in a duck tail and go down and buy a pack of Marlboros and roll them up in our t-shirt sleeve. Man just think we could get a pair of to long blue jeans out also and roll up the cuffs on them and a belt, yeah a belt with a buckle this big. Oh I almost forgot "Penny Loafers" now theres an icon for you. Or how about a button up shirt with the collar turned up in back, and that loop in between the shoulders that was there for the girls to catch you by. And them Poodle skirts, man they were pretty when you got that cute thing on the dance floor with you and she had that RED lipstick onnnnn !!! It did get kinda smeared at times but thats what that scarf she wore was for .
But the cars were the thing, I remember the first real ride I had,man was she a beauty. It had long cruiser skirts on it and Olds flipper hubcaps with two antennas on the back. But the best part of all of my favorite car was letting the top down and just cruising slow thru the Shoneys Drive in or the Dairy Queen. Now mind you it wasnt quick by a long shot but I did have a Split manifold on it with glasspacks . Yup that ole 52 Chevy took me a many a place during school. But the real kicker to it was I had a 301 Jimmy engine in it out of one of Dads big trucks that had rolled over. Dang thing got me several tickets before I found out that the drag strip was the place to play. But you see not everyone had a cool midget to go racing on the weekends--as long as my grades were kept up. Boy I would really like to go up to that film shoot at I-77 . Dont tell nobody but if I can sneak away I might just grab that gal setting in yonder and ease on up there, you never will know if you dont try ---------------------------------------------------memories

Wow they should have contacted me. I have access to a track that still has stands built in the 1950's, Scott came to race a time or two at, and like most tracks of the day no walls or guard rail in the turns and backstretch. We could have been made it to be dusty or muddy-whatever they wanted. My God, it was used in the Alcola Aluminum TV special Hard Chargers in the '60s. And the flag stand is even authenitic for the period. It's rickety, sways when the cars pass, and you need the climbing skills of a Sherpa to get up there.
