GASTONIA, NC (March 10) Luke Roffers added his name to the record books as a victor of the 12th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial Saturday night at Carolina Speedway.
The Wisconsin native now residing in Concord, NC made all the right moves throughout the 40 lap Carolina Clash affair to score the $4,000 victory.
This is a big tradition here in the Carolinas and ever since I started racing down here Ive learned its one all the drivers want to win, said Roffers in City Chevrolet victory lane.
Fast qualifier Chris Ferguson gave chase but had to settle for second. Bland VAs, Kennie Compton Jr, was third with Johnny Pursley fourth and Jeff Smith fifth.
Smith, like several drivers played double duty as he also competed in the NDRA GM Performance Late Model event. Smiths efforts paid handsomely as the Dallas, NC resident collected the $3,000 victory. Ron Parker, Dean Bowen, Rambo Franklin and Michael Brown rounded out the top five.
Kyle Strickler snuck by early leader Nick Stroupe to score the $1,000 Open Wheel Modified win. Stroupe, Manuel Johnson, Derrick Ramey and Ryan Ayers rounded out the top five.
Andy Thompson got by early leader Kenny Ramsey and drove away from a solid Dominos Pizza Street Stock field to score the win. Brent Hodges, Timbo Mangum, Brandy Baker and Josh Robbins rounded out the top five.
John Rhyne took home the Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade win while Shannon Barnhill collected top honors in the Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinder
