Richard Petty was high as a kite after winning the Winston 500. Phil Parsons was ... well, high as a kite one might say ... at one point during the race.

The win was the next to final one in the Cup series for Petty Enterprises.

Our Wrangler Jeans V.I.P. suite at the time was a stand alone building past the start finish line (pit road emptied right under our guests noses) at Talladega, going into turn one. Phil's car got really high in the air. It was scary, as was the fire after the car came to rest.
