An honor from the Bill Blair family, by Gene Hobby
I would like to thank Bill, Jr. and Sheila Blair again for the very inspirational honor they presented to me at our Old Timers Banquet, Sunday, 9/29/12, as we were winding up the festivities of the 6th annual Historic Speedway Group event of the Occoneechee Speedway in Hillsborough, NC (see attached plaque). This is indeed an honor within itself coming from the Blair family.
Sunday was a nice clear day for our Old Timers Banquet. Many awards were given out to very deserving race associated friends. We also had our ten lap race car parade around the track. Many thanks to Bill Nichols and the Bull City Street Rodders and for his 64 Dodge that was labeled 99 that I drove in the parade, representing the car I drove back in the 60s.
Saturday was a fantastic day, regardless of the rain. The race cars, show cars, race drivers, associates, and our dedicated fans kept coming. Thank you all!
Many thanks from me, an HSG member, to all the other HSG members that took part in this great annual event of ours. We will see yall again next year, Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29, 2013 --- only 364 days away! Semper Fi! Gene Hobby, 10/1/12.
