Just saw an interesting article in Google News Archives where Bill Dennis revealed his car had been sabotaged by having a screwdriver stuck through a radiator hose in 1972 prior to the first of his three consecutive Daytona Permatex 300 NASCAR Late Model Sportsman wins in the Junie Donlavey Mercury #90. The Donlavey LMS ride was one of at least four cars sabotaged before the 300.
Dennis also revealed that following Friday Hassler's death in a Thursday Daytona 500 Twin Qualifier's crash, NASCAR had for the first time inspected and confiscated the helmets of several drivers.
