Anyone know the whereabouts of John Jackson - the owner of Tommy Ellis' 1988 champion Goo Goo Clusters Buick?

Bill Dyer, who was the auto racing columnist for the Danville (Virginia) Bee and South Boston Speedway handled the PR for the Ellis/Goo Goo sponsorship. Kathy Rice at South Boston Speedway or the Sports Department at the Danville Bee might have a contact for Dyer who might know the answer to your question.

I saw Paul Jackson, (Johnny's brother), a few years ago.... Johnny had some health issues... Merv Treichler did a hell of a good job in John's cars...... ( Paul, with help from younger brother John, built the drag strip in South Butler,NY (savannah).... I knew them well.

Wally, as usual, I have learned something here I didn't know... from you, about the background of the Jackson brothers.

Digging around I found a photo of a familiar name at the strip you mention from the Kingsdragway.com site:

Dave.. growing up in NY state, and being from Owego (Shangri La speedway, where I at 9 years old saw Lee Petty race), I became an oval track fan while being a Drag Racer..... No one had to explain "Motor Sports" to me.. Watkins Glen was 35 miles away..dirt andasphalttracks everywhere, and Drag Racing ..... Johnny Jackson was a pretty good drag racer in his early days...Then J&J years ! ,,Johnny had a very successful trucking business ( as Y'all know, you had (have) to to support a Race Operation. Norm Foster was a few miles away(another giant in central NY).......John Jackson..smack dab in the middle of the best potato country anywhere...(That was my Dad's business,BTW)

Small world... my college roommate back in the 60s from the Eastern Shore of Virginia (Exmore) had summer jobs as a potato inspector.
