Alfred J. "Booby" Lane Sr., 87,of Hudgins, Virginia, formerly of Richmond, passed away May 30, 2013. He was a WWII Army veteran, receiving a Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation from President Truman. Mr. Lane raced cars in the 1950s. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, Tuckahoe Lodge No. 347 AF & AM, Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies and ACCA Temple Shrine. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Frances Redford Lane. He was the proud father of Alfred Lane Jr. (Angie) and Kathleen Brennan (Bruce); and the proud grandfather of Beth, Patrick, Maegan and Aaron. He is also survived by his favorite four-legged companion, "Fluffy." The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 58, Gloucester, Virginia 23061.
