While looking for some articles for Tim Leeming's post about the June 25, 1966 race at Greenville-Pickens, I found this neat article in the June 26, 1966 Daytona Beach Morning Journal.

A sportswriter strapped in a Plymouth pace car with retired driver Fonty Flock to take a spin around Daytona International Speedway.

The article is too lengthy to copy, edit and upload here. But I do suggest reading it via Google News Archive.

Enjoy.

Chase, that is a good piece. I didn't know that Fonty had been "Membership Director" for NASCAR. Very interesting considering the status of Tim.

This ad below was on the same page with the story Chase linked. I'd like one of the $7 tickets, please!
