On July 29, 1984 - at Alabama International Motor Speedway, Dale Earnhardt drove the Wrangler Jeans #3 Chevy to the flag ahead of Buddy Baker in the Wood Brothers #21 Ford to win the Talladega 500. It was the first win for Earnhardt driving for Childress. The pair would win 6 NASCAR Winston Cup Championships together before Earnhardt's death in the 2001 Daytona 500.
