Trivia Question
General
Dadgum it, I should've known that one. I worked backwards from today & hit Pearson with 17 in his H&M years. Forgot to go back one more to his 6.
Pretty sure the answer is 6. Can't recall a top-level series champ with 6 as part of the number.
Carl Edwards won the NW series in 60 - but not sure a driver sporting a 6 has ever won a title at the top level.
Good trivia.
That's some good stuff Billy. NASCAR only ran 1 GN race at Golden Gate - and that's pretty cool to read you were there. Floridastockcars.com has some pretty neat photos from that race and others from the track. Click the links below to view them:

My 1st GN/Cup race to attend was the 1978 Music City 420 at Nashville. The hated Cale Yarborough led every stinkin' lap. My treasured but bulky 43 Dodge Magnum gave a valiant effort but finished 3rd.
But the bottom feeders were:
30th - Jimmy Means - the 1974 Nashville LMS champ lasted only 12 laps
29th - Richard Waters - [insert own joke here] - Waters managed to last 1 more lap than Smut Means in his only career start
28th - Gary Myers - a veteran of 46 starts, he made it 128 laps before his Spencer's Baby Wear Chevy exited.
I enjoyed Big Daddy's Burger Bar when I was in Charlotte in spring 2010.

Great burgers, sweet potato fries, good selection of very cold craft beers.
My series continues today about Richard Petty's 200 wins. August 8th was a great day in the King's career with FOUR wins on this sweaty, greasy day. The August 8 and August 7 entries include contributions from Racing Reunion's Tim Leeming, Paul Woody, Jerry Bushmire, and Ron Willard. Thanks to those guys individually & keep the stories, comments, pictures, etc. coming. I'll include them where I can.

Great find!
"when they were filming that awful Hal Needham/Burt Reynolds film, "Stroker Ace."
Awww, c'mon Dave, that was some cinematic genius! I've long thought Kyle Petty got jobbed for not getting a nomination for best supporting actor in that movie.
