If you don't thing everyone had a great time on Saturday at Occoneechee these photos tell it all.Slick and Rex arrived early Sundaymorning for the Old Timers Banquet they decided
to get some extral shut eye. 
I wondered that too Dave.Maybe someone this weekend can shed some light on this .
How about a 10 lap race for college students.In researching about Occoneechee Speedway I ran across this article for theOctober 29th ,1950 race.Not sure what cars they raced or how many actually started but I found this interesting.

Racing legend Jerry Grant has died.During his racing career he drove just about every type car with wheels.He won over 130 races during his career and was credited with being the first person to run a 200 mph lap in competition.He accomplished this in September 1972 at Ontario in a Dan Gurney Eagle hitting 241 mph at peak volicity.
After he retired from the drivers seat he became head of Champion Spark Plugs.A brief look at his

Talked to Jim 's nephew this afternoon and he told me Jim would probably be moved out of ICU today and into a room.He does have some broken ribs,fractures and they put a rod and pin in one of his legs and other injuries.Will probably be a long recovery.So please continue to keep him and Peggy in your prayers.I will continue to post updates as they become available
Former GN and Convertible division driver Jim Massey and his wife Peggy we involved in a
serious automobile wreck Thursday May 24th.His wife has since been released but Jim remains in intensive care with several broken bones and other injuries.Please keep them in your prayers.I will try to keep updates on his condition as information becomes available.
