Thank you Don that means a lot to me. I hope they do come back because I did it all for them. And yoru right DW does a lot more then hold his own he is an awesome race car driver. He could run up front in anything.Any one that has aGODS race car is welcome back anytime I don't have the man power to enforceanything that is under the body that is why the GODS rules are like they are. There is nothing worse then making rules and not having the resorces or man power to enforce them. Going foward we are going to require that every GODS race car has a stock all steel body. No exceptions. If they call ita 1971 Ford, Chevy, Dodge or whatever it better look like it did when it came from the factory as the rules spell outor it won't pass tech. Thanks to RacerReunion for allowing all of us to vent our concerns. Frank settle down. Everything will be Okay. You are allowed to bitch at me. Everyone else does it's no big deal. You do your deal and I'll do mine. We are doing great here in Shelby. I got a great staff now and am looking forward to several more races this year and next. Would love to run the old stuff it's neat.Maybe someday? The GODS series is just a diferent deal.We have been getting 30-40 cars in all and are starting to make a little money. There still are a few that complain about things, guess they don't like change. They keep coming back though. That's part of the sport. We will keep improving and going forward. Good luck on the 56 bet it's cool! W

Thank you Johnny. Some times I wonder if people can read. Also if anybody ever started anything from just a dreamthey would realize that sometimes you need to adjust it as you go. W don't quit he works and works and works to get it right no matter how many times it needs ajusted. And just for the record we don't race vintage cars. We race vintage looking cars. They are much faster and and in mose casessafer. Please read the rulesand and it will be clear what we are doing in Shelby. Thanks W

Results for July 6th Rex White Night

Stock Car Racing History

Historic Cleveland County Fairgrounds Speedway Race Results for July 6th 2012

It was a warm but beautiful night in Shelby and a great night of racing. The night started with an interview with a HOF racing legend. The 1960 Nascar Champion Rex White was on hand to greet fans and sign autographs. Then it was Nashville Recording artist Travis Powell offering the invocation and singing the National Anthem. As Elvis, Travis performed an awesome rendition of America the Beautiful at intermission. Travis will be at the Don Gibson Theater performing as Elvis on July 20th.

After opening ceremonies it was time for the 4 car fast dash. Dennis Williams set fast time for the Good Old Days Series with a time of 17:09. It was Ryan Howard in the 4x taking the dash. Howard also won the heat race. In the 30 lap Feature it was a clean Sweep for the night as Ryan Howard sailed to the win over Williams, Jason Hamrick, Spanky Thompson and Misty Hudson rounded out the top 5.

The DRCs 12 lap feature was won by the #25H of Jason Hamilton after a hard fought battle with the #20 of Jonathan Jennings. They were followed by #66 Brandon Davis and #98 Mike Lemely.

In what may have been the Best feature race of the night we saw Jason Ledford one of the regular G.O.D.S. series drivers jump into the #14 Rear 4 and race side by side with the #95 of Adam Vandiver. Vandiver won the last two Rear 4 features and seemed he was on his way to a third but was denied by Ledford. Ledford raced past Vandiver on the bottom for the lead and never looked back. The win was very popular with the fans and they let Ledford know it as he climbed from his race car in Victory lane.

In the Fair 4s 12 lap feature we were once again on the edge of our seats as we witnessed our first car ever on the new mile track get upside down. Entering turn one several cars got together and it was the #4x of Clay Spivey ending up on his roof. With the assistance of Shelby Body Shop they got the car back on four wheels. Our track fire crew was there to assist Spivey from his battered race car. Spivey was not injured in the mishap but the car was done for the night. Taking the win was #3 Jonathan Sarratt who fought hard with the #14 of Mike Mull who finished 2nd. It was Jeffery Crawford 3rd, Jonathan Butler 4th and Richard Webb coming home 5th.

Be sure to come out next Friday night July 14th and meet Racing Legend Gray London the Man responsible for helping Dale Earnhardt get his first ever win in Nascar. He will share his stories with fans and sign autographs. Also we will have another bike race for kids ages 7-9. The winner will get a trophy and a new bike thanks to Settle Heating and Air. Its free just bring a bike and a helmet to qualify. This week they will race just one lap. Thanks to all our sponsors, fans, staff and every one that supports The Historic Cleveland County Fairgrounds Speedway.

Dennis Williams does it again in Shelby. It was a hard fought battle but Dennis held off a hard charging Ryan Howard to win the Keeter Ford Relay for life 30 lap feature at the Historic Cleveland County Fairgrounds Speedway. Jimmy Helms and Billy Scott and other legends were on hand to greet the fans. Special thanks to them for taking the time to make the night extra special. DiamondPawn donated an Ibonez 12 string guitar that was signed by all the fans and given to Dennis by the Relay for life folks in victory lane. The guitar was filled with donations from the fans and given to relay for life.

Also on hand were the Dirt Race Car's and the Fair 4's. The 20 lap DRC'S Feature was won by Tim Sigmon and the Fair 4'S 14 lap feature was won by Jacob Bridges. Both races were filled with lots of action at the delight of the fans. All classes will be in action next Friday night. Thanks to the Fair staff, Randall Hendricks, Mike Coley and everyone that worked so hard to keep the track in perfect racing conditionthroughout the night. Hope to see you all out next week. Good Old Days Series honors Jimmy Helms and Billy Scott Friday night May 25th

Stock Car Racing History

We are honored to have Jimmy and Billy come out and visit with the fans. They will be handing tickets out to kids for a chance to win a bike and talking with fans. Jimmy raced in the last Nascar race that was held at the Historic track back in 1965. Billy is a dirt track hero in our area and fans ask me all the time when are you going to have him out to sign autographs. Thanks to Phil Combs it's going to happen Friday and boy are we excited. We are expecting lots of race cars as we have added two more classes. The DRC'S dirt race cars and the FWD Fair 4's. The Good Old Days Series is "where the fast guys start in the back and the good guys finish in the front". Keeter Ford night and Relay for life charity folks will also be with us. Should be a great night so come on out tell a friend and help us keep this thing going! W
