Sink or swim.

Stock Car Racing History

Since the All Star race this past weekend I've heard more and more suggestions, or request, that the race be moved to a different facility. Many are tired of O. Bruton Smith and family, some are tired of the antic-limactic racing, and others just want to see something different. After 27 races at Charlotte I agree its time to consider a different venue. I understand that the Charlotte area is considered The Hub of the sport and that the majority of the teams and employees are located close to the speedway, but that is not the reason for the race. The race is for the fans, and lately they haven't been getting their money's worth.Charlotte Motor Speedway is a great facility and has been a leader in the sport for the majority of its existence but there is only so much they can do. Between the lack luster racing, the ever changing formats, and now the rediculous 'Fan Vote' many of the are losing intrest in the race. It just don't live up to the hype any more. At this point I think a change would help to reinvigorate the weekend and bring a little excitement back to the race. And judging from all the empty seats it is obvious that many no longer care to pay the lofty price of a ticket, fight the crowds and traffic and be at the mercy of the weather and walk away and wonder why they came. What do you think, should Sprint ask that the race be moved to a different facility? Should the race be rotated between several different size tracks, or just moved to a different track to see what happenes? If you had a say, what track would you think would put on the best show for the fans? Me personally, I would vote for Richmond.Sound off!Bumpertag in S. Carolina

Mike Harmon Arrested; Charged in Theft of Jennifer Jo Cobb's Hauler

Current NASCAR

The plot thickens, this morning on John Boy and Billy, Hermie Sadler said that Cobb was accusing Harmon of sabotaging the the borrowed truck and engine so she couldn't race this past week at Charlotte. Her statement was that someone sabatoged the engine in the garage, and guess who was in the garage stall beside her, Harmon. This is getting out of hand, fun to watch, but needs to end.

The 2013 Chevy SS

Stock Car Racing History

We agree more than we disagree. I have been stating for years that they need to "Dirty Up" the cars and get away from aero grip. The greatest racing was, in my opinion, in the late 60's through the 70's. When driver talent and mechanical grip carried the car. I post on here several times that they need to raise the nose, stand the windshield up some and cut the rear spoiler down to around 3".They have to make the drivers lift at Daytona and Talledaga entering the turns, put the driver back in the equation. All the racing would improve. I hope the fender blisters and body creases will remain, I do not care for flat sides.

The days of the chin spoilers are gone, the front valances will be here from now on. I agree with your statement that the street cars are looking more alike but I'll take these changes and hope that the racing improves. I disagree that you wont be able to tell the difference between the manufacturers. The Ford looks so different I fear NASCAR will not allow the current version to take to the track.

I agree but I have been pleased by what I've seen. A few weeks back I saw a new Toyota but didn't recognize the model at first glance. After I came to a stop beside it I realized it was the New Camry, and I was able to identify it from the 2013 Cup version photos that I had seen. Much closer to be a copy of the street car than we have seen for many years now. I hope that all cars will retain the fender blisters and body creases that are on the new cars. Time will tell, got my finger crossed.
