Dave, I do agree. Then after the race, they quickly leave the live action for a pre-recorded program. The first 140 laps ofracingalong with the coverage was terrible.

What was the reason for calling this new car "Generation 6"?
What is the breakdown for the other generations of cars? This must mean that the COTwas generation 5.
1981 was the first year of the downsized car at 110" wheelbase. Was this generation 3 or 4? Any thoughts?
I remember leaving Martinsville after the race and seeing Neil and Susan in this car. I talked to Neil, it was Chevy powered. We let him in line near the duck pond while we waited in traffic.
Jeff, I recall seeing photos of the caron Bills website in the past. It showed roll cage fabrication andrear end fab.No recall of any "restoration". Bill does many great restorations and I do not want to take anything away from himor his crew. Do we have any before photos of the project? Seems like this would validate this car.I have no probelm being wrong on this. I just remeberpast build photos as a re-creation.
This car is a replica, built from the ground up,
not a restoration. It is a quality build by Billy Rhine of Rhine Enterprises.
J.T. led all 20 laps and won $150.
my best guess would be a1967 consolation or qualifying race. Where???
I feel that Nascar has killed the grassroots of the sport. Now the locals are competing with Friday or Saturday racing from the truck or Nationwide series, and even Legends racing. Plus the cost of racing a late model is through the roof. Look back to Winston and the way short track racing was promoted in the 70's and 80's. I don't think we will see local racing as good again. It's sad for the folks that have supported this for so long, the fans and the tracks! Look at Nashville, limited racing, Birmingham was bulldozed, and I am sure there are others.
At the Daytona 500 in '69, Junior changed the exhaust pipes on LeeRoy's Torino Talladega sunday morning. He installed exhaust pipes to exit the rear of the car. Thislimited the amount of drafting off LeeRoy's car, causing the engine temp to rise on the car drafting. LeeRoy won that day, passing Charlie Glotzbach, in Cotton Owens Dodge, on the lastlap. After that race, all exhaust must exit the side of the car.
It is a 1963 Ford Fairlane 2door hardtop. 1963 wasthe last year of the 'fins" on the rear of the quarter panel. The full size Fords did not have this feature. Also the 1962 Fairlane was not offered in a hardtop. So it would be a '63.
