After thinking for a few minutes which is very dangerous for me the idea hit that we owe a great deal of thanks to the ladies who made this day fun and they deserve the MVPs for the race weekend . They are Kay,Carol and Karen who got out and worked the crowds in support of RR. I to want to thank the speedway staff for there support and though we didnt get as many laps as last time it was a blast. This was the first time that my grandson got to ride around Rockingham with Grandpa but I think he has now gotten the race bug because he ask when could he start practice on the track. Now to explain this to daughter and Granny will be another problem. He is looking forward to the return trip to the Rock.

Happy Birthday Pearson when talking to people about you and your career they ask what stands out in my mind about you other than all your wins and driving style I will tell them that you had your Pall Malls and juicey fruit taped to the dash and when double checking all the equipment in the cockpit one of the first things you would check was the cigarette lighter to be sure it was in good condition.They then will ask why worry about the lighter and I would tell them it was hard to get the zippo to light at 175 mph.Hope you have many more friend.

Services for Arvil Beck will be held Friday December 4th at Archdale United Methodist Church, 11543 N. Main Street. (Hwy 311) Archdale NC 27263 Visitation will start at 2:00 pm and the memorial service will start at 3pm In lieu of flowers the family request that a donation be made to the Old Timers Racing Club in memory of Arvil and we in turn will help with the final expenses and medical bills. Arvil Beck dies at 73 he and his wife Joan were my right hand people from day one and for the last 19 years with The Old Timers Racing Club if we had a function they were ready to go at the drop of a hat. He worked long and hard hours as a volunteer to help keep the club going. He and Joan would go to shows and meetings and were always willing workers for the Old Timers Racing Club. He always told everyone that as soon as I got rich and famous that I could double his salary and I always had the same answer for him double of nothing is nothing so I will gladly double his salary anytime he wanted. He like myself was honored to get to call some of racings best men and women a friend.Arvil and Joan was our membership chairman and was faithful to us until his health started to fail in the past couple of years. We will always remember his smile and his humorous pranks and jokes he liked to pull on people we will miss him terribly and am proud to call him my friend. I will post arraingments tommorow.
