60 Minute Cleaners Merc & Martinsville Pagoda Frame "No-Neck" in '68 Interview

Stock Car Racing History

From Roanoke, Virginia television station WSLS' digitized 16mm sports film collection stored at the University of Virginia Library comes a practice interview with Cale Yarborough - "No-Neck" as DW nicknamed him. The site is Martinsville Speedway in April 1968 and the Wood Brothers "60 Minute Cleaners" Merc is behind Cale. The old Martinsville pagoda also still stands... I sure "Mouth of the South" Martinsville P.A. announcer, Lewis Compton was in his accustomed place there.

While we're at it, how about if we send a little Tams tune out for all those former fans of Clint Bowyer and MWR to let them know how the race fans feel about them?

Of course, it's hard to find fault with our Legend for reliving the glory days when he was young & foolish!

Since Coastal jack Walker hasn't chimed in on this post, I'll just have to send The Legend a little Virginia Beach Beach Music.... Bill Deal & The Rhondels singing Tim's Theme Song for today! "I've Been Hurt!"

From Roanoke, Virginia's WSLS Television's 16mm sports film digitized archive at the University of Virginia Library comes an interview for The Legend and TMC-Chase.

Standing next to a solid Petty Blue Plymouth during practice for the April 1968 Old Dominion 500 at Martinsville, The King says it hasn't been a very good year... only 4 wins through April!

Note the cool Petty Engineering 1967 NASCAR Grand National Champion jacket worn by Richard in the clip at the link below. Sports anchor copy follows link:

Stock Car Racing History

From Roanoke, Virginia television station WSLS's digitized 16mm sports film stored at the University of Virginia Library, comes an April 1968 pre-race practice interview with the late Bobby Isaac at Martinsville Speedway. Isaac had just won the Thursday night Columbia Speedway Grand National race. Looks like it was a blustery afternoon in the Ridgeway, Virginia foothills.
