The hairs on my head that didn't turn gray when the girls went to college receded... just like the bank account!
Chase is now an official father of an away from home college student. Can gray hairs be far behind?!
Just threw my walker away last week (well, it is parked next to my recliner just in case) and don't have the physical strength yet to attempt a NHOF visit in January. However, I know the attendees will enjoy each others' friendship just as I have the several times I attended. That's the best part of a group visit - meeting new friends and reconnecting with old friends. Hopefully, if we schedule a spring or summer outing I can join in. To all who can make it, I wish you a great time.
Regardless of the formats, revisions, updates, improvements, changes, etc...... whether to a specific RR site, show, HOF, event, outing or whatever.....
I think many of us feel as though we've found a favorite place because of your efforts and applaud you, Jeff and Paul Lewis as your inspiration. Many of us because of your efforts have forged friendships with both people we've now met and people we'll never meet in person. We all learn from each other - young and old.
We've also learned to disagree amicably when we don't see eye-to-eye.
A favorite now defunct television show had an opening theme that kind of summed up my feelings about the familiarity of RR:
The 1955 National Open at Langhorne was won by Pete Corey, father of RR member Peter Corey, Jr. The photo below of Pete winning in 1955 was posted by member, Jim Wilmore last year on the Pete Corey Remembrance club site at RR.
Two months after winning the August 17, 1952 Asheville-Weaverville race as car owner for Bob Flock and second place Tim Flock, Ted Weaver turned his attention to promoting.
On Columbus Day - October 12, 1952, in conjunction with Alf Knight, the Georgia auto dealer Weaver traveled north to the famed Langhorne, Pennsylvania mile dirt oval and co-promoted the NASCAR sanctioned 100 Mile National Open Championship for Modified and Sportsman Stock Cars. 60 cars qualified in the prestigious event won by Jim Delaney.
No cars from Georgia made that Langhorne starting field in 1952, but I see where my all-time racing hero, Ray Hendrick of Richmond, Virginia at age 23 finished 35th followed in 36th by North Carolinian Bobby Myers. A fellow named Ralph Moody finished 58th. How many other names do you recognize?
