IS THIS WHAT YOU INVISIONED??

Current NASCAR

Uh oh... I smell the price of commercials increasing to pay for FOX's big new NASCAR broadcasting contract and to pay the salaries of our own "Two Bit" Legend's favorite sibling self-proclaimed expert announcers, along with paying the salary to get Erin Andrews away from ESPN to FOX so she could not find Danica, but entertain us bobbing & weaving in sync to the kissing advances of recording "artist" 50Cent on Daytona's pit road.

NASCAR could do the Bristol track and race fans a huge favor by moving the Bristol "Spring" date into real Spring and out of cold weather. I used to help promote a date at Richmond in February the week following the Daytona 500, so I know what it's like to fight ice and snow. Even though we always sold out, it was no fun for anyone. God bless race fans who sit in stands in below freezing weather with wind in their face.

I thought it was an exciting race... the parts I watched. For some reason I awoke and got up at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday and found myself napping during the race.

A lot of teams paid the price for changing only two tires. Goodyear says excessive brake heat was melting the beads and causing the blowouts.

I thought we were gonna see a pretty good race between Jeff and Matt until Jeff's blowout took them both out.

Seemed to me I saw a lot of passing in the pack and was a little surprised with Matt's postrace comment about passing, "I thought we had the fastest car that run, one of the only cars that could pass out there, said Kenseth.

NOW we know why Coke doesn't have Joey and Denny sitting next to each other in the van in their commercial with Tony driving. A "family" dispute, lol.

Here's a photo of the guy in red & white who was acting like the bull in the china shop trying to get at Hamlin. Who is he?

Pretty stupid, though it did liven up the post race. Anybody know who the old guy was in the red and white jacket and red & white hat was trying to get into Denny's car window?

They shoulda just walked those two youngsters to the back side of the NASCAR truck everybody suddenly wants to visit again and said , "Boys, have at it!"

Legend must have Tweeted DW and told him what a great commentary he was providing during the Bristol event?

Race food; from corn dogs to prime rib

Posted: Saturday, March 16, 2013 6:26 pm | Updated: 9:41 pm, Sat Mar 16, 2013.

BRISTOL, Tenn. Race weekend in Bristol means a few things to Pam Bishop, of Indiana: an early-morning doughnut, followed by a jug of chocolate milk and chased with a jar of moonshine.

"We always eat here," said Bishop, who has been attending races at Bristol Motor Speedway for 10 years. "We have Italian sausage and brats and chocolate milk. We always come early to get a donut."

For some, the tastes of race weekend are almost as important as the sights and sounds of the cars speeding around the track.

"Food is definitely part of the experience," Bishop said. "It's more fun to eat at the track."

From steaks and meatloaf in the suites to turkey legs and funnel cakes in the stands, it's all available at Bristol Motor Speedway.

John Webb, of North Carolina, said he always gets a hot dog at the race.

"I think a hot dog is a [must-have food] for any sporting event," he said. "But we eat everything. We try everything from cheese steak to hotdogs and burgers."

His companions, 10-year-old Noah Webb and Chris McCurry, both said a barbeque sandwich completes their race weekend.

"Barbeque tastes great at the racetrack," McCurry said.

And Duane Krupla, former owner and current operations manager of Firepit Barbeque, would be happy to hear that. Early Saturday morning, he and his crew checked brisket and barbeque that had been roasting overnight.

"We do it slow and low," he said.

Krupla said barbeque is not a common flavor found at NASCAR events.

"It's going to be a flavor of NASCAR," he said. "There's not a lot of barbeque in NASCAR. There are a lot of convenience foods. This is a higher quality food."

This is the food truck's second year at Bristol; Krupla said it took about a year of paperwork and waiting to get a spot. Vendors don't like relinquishing their spots, he said.

The truck was born a few years ago after Krupla's Kentucky restaurant Fat Man's Paradise closed. Krupla said he enjoys being on the road, but soon new owner John Moore will take over.

"I like the interactions with people," he said. "You can actually talk to people. They come happy."

Jack Slaughter, of North Carolina, bought a steaming hot turkey leg before heading into the grandstands to watch the final practice rounds for the Grit Chips 300.

"I always get a turkey leg," he said. "I come every race and get a turkey leg. You don't see them in restaurants that often."

Others at the race bring their own food, as did Laura Green, Katie Davis and Sarah Smith, all graduate students studying speech pathology at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. The trio were volunteering at the race, and although they get food vouchers, wanted to bring their own healthy snacks.

"But after this I was thinking a barbeque sandwich," Green said. "I used to get all the fried food" [at events like this]. That's about the only place I'll eat a corn dog."

Young John Marshall, 5, of Missouri, spent some of his food budget on cheese fries at Saturday's race. He said the day before he had bought a foot-long corndog.

"It was as big as a Subway sandwich," he said, holding his arms wide to demonstrate. "It was this big and I ate

2 spectators killed at Sprint Car race

General

I believe it was at Michigan (the Mark accident) and it had the potential to be horrendous. Only by the grace of God was it not. As stated above, certainly prayers go out to the individuals and families. Seems to be some of the driver's own family members involved if I read correctly. Heart breaking.

Very sad news. A few more details:

Crash at California race track leaves 2 dead

By Bill Hanstock on Mar 16 2013, 11:36p

SB Nation

A driver lost control of his car on Saturday evening at Marysville Raceway Park in California, slamming into a wall in the track's pit lane and killing two people, according to Tony Bizjak of the Sacramento Bee and News10 KXTV.

The driver was 17-year-old Chase Johnson, who is a student at nearby Petaluma High School. Racetrack announcer Steven Blakesley was the first person to report on the crash, tweeting out the following just after 6 p.m. PT:

We have had a very serious accident. Chase Johnson had a problem and flew into the pits. Several people appear to be injured.

KXTV reports that one of the victims was Johnson's 14-year-old cousin, while the other is an individual who owned "a few cars in the race." The 68-year-old car owner was pronounced dead at the scene, while the teen was transported to a nearby hospital before being pronounced dead. Johnson was uninjured in the crash, and no others were hurt, according to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.

Blakesley told KXTV that the car appeared to have suffered a mechanical problem before the crash, which took place during a pre-race practice session.

Saturday's race was canceled following the crash. The drivers have agreed to donate all gate proceeds to the families of the victims.
