King Richard again touches the life of another

That's the kinda stuff you just love to see. What a special story.

Good work, Dennis. You out to send this note to NASCAR Media and the AP Motorsports writer.
I saw then final 5 minutes.
Thanks, Dennis.... think I'll mosey over there around 5:30 and check to see if we get any candid shots of Cody, Jack Walker, Bill McPeak or other RR members who attended. Who knows.... there may be some blackmail potential here!
Y'all busted that one wide open.
Thanks for the info on Jackie... I didn't know the answer, only that he didn't start in the #5. LeeRoy had originally qualified on the outside pole and totaled his #26 Junior Johnson Ford in a practice crash. Didn't have the backup car rule we have today.
Qualifying race winner, J.T. Putney wound up with an 11th place finish in the next day's National 500, won by Buddy Baker. I don't recall J.T. ever again or before that race using the #22.
I'd say you are certainly on the right track, lol.
We have finally hit the "slow" season. Here's a trivia question regarding a race won by my favorite big league driver, the late J.T. Putney. I'm posting the finish order, along with make, car number and car owner/sponsor.
You know the drill... answer the ole journalism mandate... who, what, when, where, why, how?
I'll wait a couple of days to confirm what I'm sure will be immediate correct responses by our RR "Panel of Experts."

I'm guessing so, Patsy. I got chill bumps when I heard the ship's siren.
A year or two back I posted the photo below on my personal photo page. It was sent to me in thanks at the Richmond track back in the 90s after I had arranged last minute pit passes for the crew of the United States Navy Guided Missle Destroyer USS STOUT - DDG 55 to attend a NASCAR Cup race at RIR while their ship was in port at Norfolk, Virginia. I have written before about how the late Richmond promoter, Paul Sawyer always supported the military and our veterans.
Today, I did an internet search using that ship's name and found actual combat footage posted from last year when the ship was on patrol off the coast of Africa and fired missles into Libya to protect its oppressed citizens. That was quite an interesting thing to see the actual ship in combat whose one-time crew I had brought to the races as our guests. I thought you might enjoy seeing what I just discovered. The video is posted below the photo the ship's Commander sent me and the description of the video is from the US Navy post.
I felt goosebumps when I saw the video knowing I had once hosted this ship's crew and introduced them to a gracious group of NASCAR drivers.
