October 5 - This day in Petty history 10/5/57 - Lee wins at Southern States Fairground in Charlotte.10/5/58 - Lee wins at Salisbury Speedway in North Carolina. Rookie Richard Petty finishes 22nd in a Petty Oldsmobile numbered #2. Julian Petty's two Chevrolet entries driven by Roy Tyner and Ken Rush finished 5th and 9th, respectively.10/5/63 - Richard wins at Tar Heel Speedway in Randleman NC. Bob Welborn finished 3rd in a 2nd Petty #42 entry.10/5/75 - Richard wins his 12th race of the season, the National 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
