Daytona I remember going with my Daddy to Daytona just after I'd gotten married (during the 1980s)and saw Tim Richmond racing. I sure thought he was going to win that year (not exactly sure when it was but it was 86 or 87) as he was running so well but he didn't. My Daddy never went to movies but there were two that I remember him taking us to. The first when I was a kid, was The Richard Petty Story with Greased Lightening as the second feature at a local drive-in. I think it was the first time I'd ever been to a drive-in! The one line that I remember the most about the Richard Petty movie was his wife being upset because Richard was working on his car on his wedding night was her saying, "Now, I can finally tell everyone that Richard brought up his RPMs on his wedding night!" ...lol. The next movie that we went to see was Days of Thunder, with Tom Cruise who portrayed Tim Richmond in a loose fashion. He was a very good driver and of course I thought he was cute too! lol His death was a huge loss to NASCAR.Days of Thunder.....
The Richard Petty Story....
Greased Lightening (story of Wyndell Scott)....

Have you read Declarations of Stock Car Independents?

These stories are virtually unedited! Just as they were told to author, Perry Allen Wood. I enjoyed them all.
