Roxboro Paper: In Powder Puff Derby,Women Drivers to Race at Roseville July 11,1960
A special attraction is scheduled for the Roseville Speedway on wednesday night,it was announced today by M.S.Solomon,Manger
For the first time on the track a "Powder Puff Derby" will be offered.The women drivers will take over that night to provide the spills and chills.Fam are urged to come early to see the girls"Drive".
Racing will be offered at speedway beginng this week on wednesday night only.Solomon has join together with four other tracks so each will offer racing on a different night.More and more drivers are slated to be ready for the first race at Roseville on wednesday night.
Last wednesday night Bennie Davis of Burlington claimed honors in the featured sportsman event.He was followed by Gene Crawford of Hillsboro,Bill Taylor of morrisville and Johny Ziglar of morrisville.
Harry Black of Durham took the checkered flag in thr hobby event.Wayne McGhee of Hillsboro was second and was followed by Gene Porterfield of Durham and Buddy Henderson of Roxboro.
Ziglar won first heat with Crawford second.A Greensboro driver Rex Pickard was winner of the second heat,followed by Clayton Shull of Roxboro.
