Yes my father is Jim Kelso radio announcer and dirt track announcer. I do remember Jackie Rogers and Richard McKinney. My dad ran the projectors at the drive-in on Bragg Boulevard. I would like to hear from each of you again. My childhood grew from the experiences at the dirt tracks and knowing the drivers and their families. Sam Ard passed a year to two ago from Alzheimers and I am not sure where any other drivers live today. I did see Richard Brickhouse 10 years ago and he still lives in NC. Please reach out again and lets chat more.

Is your dad the Jim Kelso who was a radio announcer?

My brother Richard McKinney knew that Jim Kelso very well. They attended a lot of races together. Jim Kelso was a great Fred Lorenzon fan and my brother was a Buck and Buddy Baker fan.

I attended a race at Champion Speedway in the late 50s or early 60s and remember Dink Widenhouse winning in a #B-29 car.

Hope this helps you with your inquiry.

I would love to know, 1) does anyone have contact info for Jackie Rogers from the old Cape Fear (Leland) and Pender Co. Speedway days? I run iRacing (an oldie in the sim racing world I am) and want to paint up a Jackie tribute car. I'm 57 and Jackie was my childhood hero. Just want him to know "thanks for the great memories" I used to crew the old street stock rides Mark Lane prepped that ran at Pender County. Used to be based on Castle Hayne Rd. at the old Phillips 66 station belonging to Mark's father Shelby Lane, I've seen some photos but wanted something a little clearer so I can get the look of the car right :)
