Here's a topic that's we've re-run more times thanSmokey and the Bandit: Captions for pictures posted here on Racers Reunion. Over the years, there's been some fantastic, never-before-seen photos posted right here........and all too often, there is no accompanying info....NONE. I'd like to encourage all photo posters to include what info you have, or what you've been told, or what you think.........I'll guarantee, there's sufficient knowledge on this site to fill in the blanks........just get the ball rolling.

Folks just need to slow down when posting photos, take that extra minute to add a title and description or, post the photo as a trivia question, that always stirs the imagination and crap house investigators...lol

If all you know is what you see in the picture...put that in the tags...or title...such as the number of the car. Many times I search by car number if that is all I know. If it is a 55 Chevy number 01...put than in the tags and ask others to fill in the blanks. If you know the track...add that as well. There are thousands of photos here without any info on them.

And google will find it here. Facebook is not indexed the same way. Too many people waste too much great historical info on facebook...where it will only be seen by a few and never found in a search.

I'd go so far as put the state it ran if the track is unknown, like you all said, any bit of info. can lead to solving the "unknown" driver photo.

I have posted many photos that were partially correct, I might have missed the drivers name, the car make or model or the track but, there was enough info. that someone looking could find it and let me know the correction. This happens to me all the time which must mean only one thing......I'm wrong a lot!!!!

Here's the problems with photo Captions?
#1. How do you "Tag" a photo?
I don't know how to do it?

#2. Most of the photos on this website, are old (unknown history like unknown driver's name, unknown track's name, unknown car owner's name, or unknown date of photo taken) racing photos from friends or family members.
The above "unknown photos" be "Listed" or "Tag" as "Unknown Photos or Mystery Photos"?
The above "Tag Unknown Photos or Tag Mystery Photos" be "Re-Tag" by other members with corrected "Tag" information?

#3. Photos with wrong information or don't matched with known website's auto racing history sources:

Here's an example:
http://stockcar.racersreunion.com/photo/rudd90vixvi-1

This photo was "Listed or Tag" : ricky rudd at richmond in his dad chevy with junie donlavey sponor truxmore 90.ricky drover fords for junie dinlavey 1979

(see photo below) The1979 photo was taken at a "night race" at "Bristol International Raceway" not a "day race" at "Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway".
Noticed the "Bristol International Raceway" painted on the high concrete wall in photo, "Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway" had used "arco metal highway guardrails" in 1979.

Dennis, this is a perfect example. Now that you've identified the track the pieces of the puzzle are complete. I've posted photos with the wrong driver's name but correct track, or the wrong track but the correct driver's name and somebody always comes along, like you, and corrects me. GREAT, now I can edit the photo description and title and make it right. If there is only one shred of truth to a photo people will figure it out, but if there's nothing but a photo, no name, track, no owner, nothing, there's nothing to start with.

Dennis,

After loading the photos in the edit screen, there is a "tags" space, just put in whatever you know about the photo. Same with the caption. If you have already uploaded it, you can edit the photo by clicking on the "options" button then edit and changing the captions or adding to the tags, or description.
