Hey, RIR president Dennis Bickmeier, How come RIR doesn't have an Auto Race Museum ???

Hey Richmond Race Fans, Where's the old racing programs and old racing photos from this over 60 years old Richmond race track???

"Sixty years of NASCAR at RIR is a big deal," RIR president Dennis Bickmeier said. "It's a milestone year. We can really engage our fans about their thoughts and memories about RIR, as well as the drivers and past performers here. I think that's going to be cool to learn more stories."

Sincerely,
Dennis Garrett

Dennis, FYI, I sent the new RIR President Mr. Bickmeir an e-mail last week reminding him that the NASCAR history of RIR extends beyond 60 years. The first ever NASCAR race of any kind on any track in the Commonwealth of Virginia was held in 1948 (before Martinsville's first NASCAR race), a NASCAR Modified race won by Red Byron. This was well chronicled in research and News Releases I did for the track in 1998 during NASCAR's 50th Anniversary celebration. I suggested Mr. Bickmeir and staff might want to check the track archives and news releases. Unfortunately, since the track's purchase by ISC, there seems to be a discombobulation. The first CUP race was in 1953, 5 years after the first NASCAR Modified race. I have no problem with them celebrating the Cup history, but the new logo needs to change and not say 60 years of NASCAR... it should say 60 years of Cup.

As expected, I have received no response from anyone at Richmond International Raceway, a place where I produced the first track media guide and spent countless weeks researching Paul Sawyer's payoff sheets back to the 1950s.
