Goat Rodeo...on TV?

Our weekly Goat Rodeo (aka Racing Through History radio show) will have some very special guest Tuesday night May 8, 2012 (tomorrow night as of this writing). Harold Brasington III, grandson of the man who built Darlington Raceway (and others) is producing a documentary called "Harold's Folly". As part of that production the television crews will be filming us interviewing Harold (the 3rd).

Do you think they have a clue what they might be in for....?

We are also planning another very special treat for our audience. I will verify this tomorrow, but I am working on an interview with one of our heroes who has not been in the best health lately. That is what's referred to as a tease in the goat rodeo biz.

Our cast of goats er ah...talk show hosts will have a special Darlington themed program for you. And unless the goat eats Cody's homework another episode of The Goat Rodeo Garage...this one penned by our 15 year old racing historian, Cody Dinsmore.

Jeff, I hope I'm not starting anymore fires at 7pm and home in time for the show. Lately it's been hard pressed to get home in time to tune in due to a push to get as many acres of controlled burning in before it rains or gets too dry but I try without getting a speeding ticket.

When I saw Darlington and tv, I immediately thought of longtime Florence television sports director Cecil Chandler.

Boy, was I surprised to see in TODAY's Myrtle Beach paper that he is being sued for $250,000 by a celebrity chef claiming he illegally changed the name of his Surfside Beach restaurant to steal customers.

OK I will. I admit, I use to set Mom's Multofloro bushes on fire and then run back to the house to grab the garden hose before they spread to the neighbors barn. Ahh, I feel much better...thanks Dr. G

I sure hope the broadcast will have time for the ole Reverend Stagger.

Just came across a photo of the Reverend as a boy and one of his money making schemes.

Your credit is good with the ole Reverend!

You're welcome! Glad we could help relieve you of that burden. The Goat Rodeo has many attributes...thetherapeuticnature of our engagement is often overlooked.

Lol...Cecil is back-stroking, saying he maybe the "front" man, but someone else makes those types of decisions. Interesting....they named the restaurant Valentinos II. Hard to figure how that might conflict with Valentinos....hmmm.

Ok, it is now official. Our surprise for tonight's show will be aninterviewwith Fearless Freddie Lorenzen. As many of you know, Fred is on the nominee list for induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Also we will interview Waddell Wilson about why he feels Fred should be in the 2013 class.

You can vote too by going to http://www.nascarhall.com/inductees/fan-vote . Let's do our part to see a deserving hero make while hes is living. There are many who need to be there. I personally think the vote should be split between the earliest pioneers and the next in line who are alive. Such as Raymond Parks, Herb Thomas, Curtis Turner, Bobby Isaac, Red Byron...etc....then maybe Cotton Owens and Fred Lorenzen. Cotton and Fred are both in a condition of declining health. That's my opinion...go vote yours! Do not complain if you're not voting.

Also on tonight's show Barry Dodson chimes in on the track "Too tough to Tame".
