Would NASCAR fight a Bill to ban Auto Racing?

Lately there's been a lot of talk going around about "Going Green" and "Green House Gases" also, with the latest tragedy in Colorado, there's a renewed push to ban guns altogether, however, for stricter gun control the NRA is the law makers biggest road block. For the environmentalists that would just as soon ban auto racing, NASCAR could be our biggest asset which, many claim as auto racing to be an unnecessary contributor to the greenhouse gas effect. As dissatisfied as fans are with the direction NASCAR is going, they (NASCAR) could be the entity that stops the outlaw of auto racing.

What are your thoughts about this?

I will make this short and sweet Jim.

YOU ARE SO CORRECT!!!!

I am positive that NASCAR would fight it till death.

I am sure that you can include the other racing organizations, ARCA, IRL, F1, NHRA, SCCA etc..

That's what I'm talking about.

Altogether a powerful force.

Yes Tommie, the other auto racing clubs would definitely be on the front lines to prevent law makers from banning auto racing. I have already received flak about contributing to the green house effect though the people that point fingers drive an automobile and own and operate other gas run machinery. There are many in society that loathe auto racing and people that support it and it wouldn't surprise me one bit to one day hear of a Bill to ban auto racing, or racing of any motorized vehicle. I make s me wonder why NASCAR has used all electric pace cars? Is this the writing the wall?

But the upside of this is IF and only IF it were to happen we are already way into the elec motor performance curve--there are electric cars and bikes out there now that are busting internal combustion engine cars on the drag strip and a couple that are going for the long haul. one is over 350 miles and its a performance vehicle to boot with 0 to 60 in under 4 sec --wind is they got a 500 mile battery pack thats going to be ready by next year too. but you will have to play a tape of a v8 in your radio for the sound
