Found some pretty interesting quotes or ramblings from some of our great drivers about Women RACE-CAR Drivers. It starts out with ;
"Women should leave race driving to men"
Bobby Unser said "the good Lord built men and women differently. (Ill agree to that one )
If I could talk to the women who are trying to be race drivers I'd tell them they are shoveling sand against the tide. A.J.Foyt and Cale Yarborough agreed --with appropriate words to spice their opinions.
"They are just not physically strong enough"was the gist of Foyt's reply to an informal poll.
Unser the 1974 United States Auto Club big car driving champion won the first IROC race run in Sept at MIR.
The question about female race drivers was brought on by the excellent showing of Lella Lombardi,a small 31 year Italian woman in a Formula 5000 race in Southern California last month.
Now all this transpired during the IROC practice at Riverside California in 1974.
Wonder what the boys would say to the remarks of yesteryear, or would they have more choice words to display their discomfort for the strength of the lesser or maybe a new grip on the handle of the shovel they are using. This could be interesting ---------!
