or how about this one from 1935 at the Southern Speedway in South Gate California. Where they only ran roadsters back in the day..
I think there is an upcoming event at Orange County Speedway .. Here is a flyer from the fair in 1974
Someone may know where this is
I believe I have heard of that establishment!
Thanks for posted the old "WILSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY" advertising race poster.
What's with the thumb-nail size photo?? LOL
I enlarged It and it looks fuzzy to me!! LOL
I could make out the following:
"Southern Modified Championship"
"MODIFIED STOCK CAR & HOBBY RACING"
"SAT.AUG.26"
"WILSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY"
" ? ? ?" JUST SOUTH __ WILSON, N.C."
"$4000.00 PAYOFF"
What year did this happen? "SAT.AUG.26,19__"
Who was the race winners of "MODIFIED STOCK CAR & HOBBY RACING" races??
Got any start/finish stats of the "MODIFIED STOCK CAR & HOBBY RACING" races?
Thank you very much for any information or photos.

August 26th fell on a Saturday in both 1961 and 1967, take your pick. I moved to Wilson in 1970 and there was no modified racing there by that time, only late models.
Wilson was drawing strong fields to its weekly Saturday night Sportsman features in 1959 as evidenced by this Associated Press clip in the Charleston (SC) News & Courier recapping the Saturday night, May 23rd, 1959 Wilson 25-lap Sportsman feature won by Banjo Matthews over Dink Widenhouse .
How about George Dunn, Jr. of Raleigh continuing for a 6th place finish after his spectacular crash?
I was at Wilson in the 70s when Larry Curry of Knightdale, NC clipped the top of the turn three light pole with his 1955 Chevy Limited Sportsman and landed out beside U.S. Highway 301. I wouldn't be surprised if our RR members Charles Ray Stocks, Tim Hamm and Eugene Bruce West weren't also at that Saturday night Wilson race. The photo below of Larry's #55 was taken by Tim Hamm at Wilson in 1974.
Must have been using some of this Product
Here is one with A famous name that a lot of winners started at
