I'm a day late on posting on the anniversary of this event. But considering I haven't seen any December 5th history posted today, I figured I was in the clear.

This one goes out to Tim Leeming who I'm quite sure will have a polarizing opinion about the outcome of this race.

December 4, 1977 - Five Flags Speedway - Pensacola FL - Snowball Derby

Rather than type a bunch of words, let's have the 2 parties involved in the controversy tell their side of the story about the finish of this race.

One thing is clear - regardless of who was the true winner, the race true a ton of superstars both from the present and destined to be one in the years to come.

No comment. I would, however, have no problem shoving a snowball in that big mouth. May also consider shoving those five flags up D.W.'s............................. oh well, you know.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Dale Inman had quite a laugh when DW whispered that The Legend had secretly joined the DW Fan Club!

I had forgotten about this one! Thanks for posting Chase. I'm good friends with Ronnie Sanders and I love hearing him telling this story! In fact, Ronnie is at the Snowball now, with his late model driver (who I can't remember his name).

Another neat fact is that the car that won the 77' Snowball is on loan to the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame by Sanders, who is a 2009 Inductee. The car was originally built by Pete Hamilton, when he had his stay throughout the 70's in Georgia. The car has a higher rear end than a stock 76/77 Camaro. The way I understand it, is that Hamilton used the back part of a Mopar (Might have been one of those Plymouth Kit Cars) to fabricate the custom rear clip of Ronnie's Camaro.
