Febuary 2013 was the beginning-- remember?!

Fans were arriving in droves, crews were preparing their cars, the media was covering all the action. And thats where things started going wrong.

Kyle Busch said he had seen a lot of nasty wrecks but that one was terrific. Jeff Gordon described it as it gave him nightmares.

Ace reporter Erin Andrews was on assignment hunting Danica Patrick but she was outta sight (a height deviation maybe?) she was supposed to be on pit road but she wasnt. Kevin Harvick said it was kinda weird and Dale Jr said he just could understand what happened. Kasey Kane said it could have been a Law & Order mix up/Nascar but instead a half dollar was pressed into the scene and Erin like a trooper avoided a total smack up and got away with only a glancing smear. She had to hustle up for fear of another encounter . It even left Joey Logano speechless . With The way kinda blocked she had to hustle to arrive at Victory Circle because you didnt know who was gonna get smacked. Jimmy Johnson said it compared to his daughter not kissing the bricks at Indy ----Creepy .. She lost her tagalong like a lost puppy. Her destination was in Victory Lane but not with a Half Dollar..-- the episode continues in February 2014..

Should be an interesting February coming up. Sparkle Pony's chance to enhance publicity for a week, or perhaps Austin Dillon in the 3 which would really suit NASCAR big time. I would like to witness the installation of the restrictor plate in Dillon's car.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Would have been more fun if Erin had invited that bozo 50cents to "Kiss My - - - " on live national television!

I just can't wait until the weekly press releases start coming outta Daytona telling which of Brian's entertainment buddies are gonna sing, strut, wave green flags, grand marshal around, etc. at the "Birthplace of Speed."

I see they've already named David Hobbs as Grand Marshal of the Rolex 24. Gawd, how I hated hearing him analyze stock car racing alongside Ken Squier on CBS. Many of his comments were absolutely ludicrous.

Still better than Jackie Stewart and Jim McKay on Wide World of Sports. David is a good man and did well calling Formula One, but he doesn't belong in a stock car booth. He has many years of experience running the Daytona 24 and in sports car racing so that's a good fit. He can ramble on a bit and that British accent often makes him sound like a pooftah, but things will be fine.

What's gonna ruin the Rolex is all those Daytona Prototype cars getting in the way of the real LMP race cars. But it's been about the GT cars for at least a decade anyway.

Erin Andrews was clueless and didn't belong at the Daytona 500 to start with. I'm pleased that she was embarrassed by someone who also had no reason to be there. And that she couldn't find her interview subject who probably didn't belong there either. More than half of these pre-race shows is spent running ridiculous fluff that wastes everyone's time. I'd like to see them tack that wasted time onto the end of the race and do some detailed analysis and interviews that last longer than the list of sponsors to thank. Everybody knows how the game of football is played but few know what is involved in building a race car or why each race track requires different skills. If you treat the sport like figure skating, you'll be taken just as seriously.
