Couch racing and verbal Smack is a way of Sat nite pleasures and many of us are winners in this.. Tim and myself have relived many a race from the 60s and 70s through this venue, heck we even got up on camera and held court. Then Dustin went and put it to tune.

But where Im going here is this new noise we are hearing about Richard Petty and Danica Patrick going to have a showdown on the track. Hey guys and girls she aint no pushover on the track and you got to admit it. But at the same token toss Richard has won on every type of track there is.. BUT how long has it been since he last got in a car to actually try to out run or even pass another car. Im not saying he cant do it but kinda compare it to this -- if you dont do something for a long while it may hurt to try or even you cant do it (for example you used to be able to scratch your back when you were younger but now you are older you cant quite reach it,that spot that itches or worse yet an old injury says no way ) point im making is should Richard task his body, not his mind, on this because tempers could get outta hand here......

Or is this a crowd pleaser draw card with no action.. YOU folks are greater minds than mine so answer this question !!

I would think it is not likely to happen Johnny, for reasons you stated. It would, however, be a huge draw. Can you imagine the advertisers lining up to have that televised?I would expect NBC and FOX to fight over that. But where? How many laps? When? I would offer this suggestion:

1. Race at "The Rock".

2. Race 50 laps with at least a two tire change and fuel required between laps 30 and 35.

3. Sometime in October

Now having said that, I remember when Billy Jean King took on the male tennis player, whose name I can't recall, and she beat him. That was big news at the time but since I can't even remember the other guy it must not have been that important, but then tennis was never my thing.

I would really prefer it never happen because, unlike the tennis match, Richard has some age on him. I would not want to see him hurt at his age and with Danica's uncanny ability to cause wrecks, that worries me. Also, the fact is that it is a no win scenario for Danica. If she wins, she beat a 76 year old guy who hasn't been in a race car since 1992. If she loses, she, as well as other female drivers, will never hear the end of it as she had her butt kicked by an "over the hill" old man.

Go back and watch the video on FB showing in car cameras and radios during races last year. To a man, including the infamous Tony Stewart, were blasting her driving. There were more "bleep outs" in that video that you'll ever see in a NASCAR tape.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Umm, no. A simple question to a question from the media has expanded waaaay too much.

King's comment - whether you agree with it or not - was succinct and visual.

Smoke's reply was just downright dumb and long-winded.

Enough already.

Richard is twice her age, so he needs a handicap. Race cars have evolved, and Petty needs something he would be familiar with. Put them both in 1971 Plymouths with Hemis, manual steering and bias-ply tires. Tell Danica that she can't wear a cool suit.

And on a half-mile dirt track. Then watch the sparkle dull on the pony.

Tony the Pony could promote it at his own Eldora as the pre-race show before the Truck race.

By the way, I guess y'all caught Z's comment:

Well, my reaction you can print this is Richard was out of line, France says. I think anybodys entitled to their own opinion. But she has accomplished a lot in her own right just to be here. She is a competitor and she is improving.

Last question: If there is a secret room where race winners are predetermined, does it feature a portrait of Danica and a mural of Dale Earnhardt Jr.?

Listen, says France. If there was a Dale Jr. lever to pull, we would have pulled it a long time ago.

What would it prove? If she "wins" so what? She still hasn't won a cup race. Richard didn't say, she couldn't beat him, he said shey win a cup race if everyone stayed home. Too much knee-jerking going on.

Danica is already racing Richard Petty. Except now his name is Jimmy Johnson. And she is running (supposedly) the same engine as Johnson. So if she's not beating him, either she's not as good or Tony's team isn't as good. Since I know that Tony has won races against Jimmy, and even a championship, I have to conclude that Danica is the problem.

Like I said before, she's a better racer than she gets credit for. She consistently ran in the front half of the field in Indycar. She's always run best on superspeedways. In another year, she can be a solid top ten finisher and may even win a race or two. But she's not Petty/Earhardt/Johnson caliber. If she sticks with i for another two years she'll be Greg Biffle caliber.

Petty was right that if she were a man nobody would pay attention to her. Dario Franchitti was a better Indycar driver in every way and his NASCAR career was about as good as Danica's (blame Ganassi Racing). He didn't get this level of publicity. And that's what people don't like. If they'd stop pumping up the story, people would stop trying to knock her down. But that's always been part of her game, she knows she's not a superstar, but she's trying to make a political point and encourages the media.

The Indycar fans are moaning this year because one of their women drivers, Simona DiSilvestro, left for a job in Formula One. In contrast to Danica, she was loved and will be missed. Simona worked hard on an inferior team and didn't try to be conspicuous. It probably also helped that she was only average looking and didn't pose in swimsuits. Today's race fans aren't against women racers, they're against having women racers shoved in their face.

NASCAR should remember this when they make their push with a black or Latino driver. They thought they would get the same results that they did by pushing Junior in our faces. That we would love the driver no matter what the results. But Junior's story was different, and Junior may be a better person. Equal as a driver, but a better human being.

IT COULD HAPPEN

The Richard Petty-Danica Patrick-Tony Stewart saga just won't stop. Goaded by "Fox & Friends" hosts on Friday morning, Petty accepted Stewart's offer to set up a head-to-head race between Patrick and the NASCAR Hall of Famer. "I'm 76 years old, OK?" Petty said, grinning, during a live spot from Daytona International Speedway. "It's been 25 years since I've been in a race car. But I'll take that challenge." When pressed, he reaffirmed, "Oh, yeah. When is this going to happen?" When asked by Fox hosts about his critique of Patrick's career, he stated, "I judge by results."
