GREENVILLE-PICKENS 200

GREENVILLE, SC. May 28, 1968

The 3rd Grand Touring race of 1968 was held at Greenville-Pickens Speedway and was 200 laps on the 1/2 mile dirt oval. Qualifying was rained out so a random draw put Jack Ryan on the pole in a 1967 Porsche. I cant document where Tiny Lund started but it must have been close to the front as he lead every lap on the way to his second victory of the year.

Fin Srt Car # Driver Car Laps Reason out

1 16 Tiny Lund 68 Cougar 200 Running

2 1 Bud Moore 68 Cougar Running

3 87 Buck Baker 68 Camaro Running

4 3 Jim Vandiver 68 Camaro Running

5 74 Al Straub 68 Mustang Running

1 36 Jack Ryan 67 Porsche

5 Roy Tyner 68 Camaro

The regular, Jimmy Vaughn, talked about in the preview became a regular in the GT and GA series all the way thru 1972 and ran Grand National East.
