How Dare You Junior????? Not calling Matt to apologize.

I read an article this morning on Yahoo Sports in which Matt Kenseth was interviewed about the wreck in Sonoma. He made the statement that Junior had not called him to apologize for the incident. Excuse me Mr. Dollar General, but I saw that accident and it sure looked to me like an unavoidable racing incident. You have caused more than your share of such incidents and I don't recall one driver mentioned whether or not you bothered to call. You and your fake smile always interview nicely after such incidents caused by you and it is always a "sincere apology" for what you did. Junior immediately jumped on his in car radio and apologized to you, the team and the world accepting responsibility.

Somehow I just can't imagine Joe Weatherly telling an interviewer that Curtis Turner didn't call to apologize for putting him through the wall. Or Lee Petty calling Buck Baker to apologize for such an indiscretion. But then I guess it was lack of cell phones back in the day. Or, you know what? If you can imagine this. Drivers actually talked to each other back then, stayed in the same motels, ate in the same diners.

Matt, I hope you get that call this week before you check in for Kentucky. Would hate to think your little heart would be broken not to receive an apology.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Tim, being the sweet young man he is, maybe, just maybe, Matt was just joking as he and Jr. are supposed tobe buds....lol

Didn't appear to be joking Bill, but being the fake he is, it is difficult to tell I suppose.

Oh, and Bill, the NASCAR site is quoting Mouthy Matt as saying "Junior has one coming". Seems that site is also quoting A. J. Allmendinger as saying pretty much the same thing. Hope Junior is wearing his armor in Kentucky.

For what it's worth Tim, it was DALE JR who said he had one coming. And it was a tweet at that vs. actual words to a media member. If Matt said it, he was likely just parodying what Jr already said. I wouldn't make too much of what either said about the accident.

Takes more than one incident to build a grudge and a rivalry. These guys are just tossing out soundbites at NASCAR's request to hype the product and keep everyone's paycheck safe. Junior's a down to earth guy who's seen the upside and downside of racing, he usually owns up to his mistakes instead of acting like a prima donna.

I'm disappointed that Helton says there won't be any more road races. Road America would have been fun.

Andy, that is my opinion of Dale, Jr., exactly. He always owns up to his mistakes and there have been incidents he accepts blame when I think he's totally innocent. Not that I'm a Junior fan, but that's just how I see it with him. I also agree that I think Road America would have been a great track for the Cup. I would guess if ISC could get their hands on it, Cup would run there. I also totally agree with you on the NASCAR request for interesting soundbites.

Having said all that, now I can only ask "What is this world coming to?". Andy and Tim agree 100% of certain issues. I guess there is hope for world peace after all.
